[:en]In an effort to continue to foster an inclusive festival that showcases a range of perspectives and experiences within the disability community, ReelAbilities Film Festival: New York is looking for several more volunteers for our 2021 ReelAbilities Film Selection Committee. If you are interested, please fill out the application form by July 10.
The committee is responsible for previewing and identifying films to potentially be included in the upcoming festival. ReelAbilities Film Festival: New York prides itself in presenting high-quality films from across the globe. Each year we offer local and international audiences new perspectives on disability, some of which have rarely been explored before.
Ideal volunteer selection committee members should have background in disability and/or film. Your previous involvement, expertise, and unique perspective on disability and film will be an asset to us as we curate the best film lineup for the upcoming festival.
In addition – watching film submissions is a fun, entertaining and engaging activity you can do remotely from home during these times of social distancing. As a committee member we offer you a full access pass to all ReelAbilities NY public events throughout the year and during the New York festival April 29-May 5, 2021.
As a ReelAbilities selection committee member, we ask you to to commit to:
- Watching at least 15 films per month (mix of shorts and features), via the Film Freeway platform, between June-December 2020 (with the majority of films assigned between September-November, 2020).
- Regularly rating each film you watch on Film Freeway using our provided criteria. Each rating will include a yes/no vote as to whether the film should be included in the festival and a short explanation of your rating.
- Attend a total of 2-3 committee meetings via Zoom to discuss the program, process and mission.
Applicants will be notified by July 24 if they have been selected to the committee. Once you have been selected to the committee, we will have a short onboarding meeting, set up your FilmFreeway account, and send additional instructions on the screening process. [:]
