The stories of Jonas, a boy born with genetic deafness who grew up with cochlear
implants, and his aging deaf grandfather, who debates the use of this technology. Both
at turning points in their lives, they set forth on a intergenerational journey which
explores silence, deafness, and Beethoven’s legendary composition written the year that
he became deaf. Premiered at Sundance 2019 and produced by HBO. Preceded by red
